Particularly if you have a Phantom 3 Standard you will notice that the device holder that comes on the drone is not the best.
In my case out of the box it couldn’t even hold up my iPhone and then later it completely broke. I needed to find a better more sturdy solution and here I am going to show you what I came up with and teach you how to do it!
Step #1: Main Mount
Once you have completely pulled off the device holder that comes on the controller you will want to place a GoPro adhesive mount in the upper center of the controller. (Pictured Below)
If you already own a GoPro most likely you will have one of these laying around but if not you can pick one up for very cheap from amazon ==>here.
Personally I used the curved mount but depending on where you place it you may want a flat one.
Step #2 Phone Holder
This is the part of the mount that holds your device and keeps it safe so it is very important. Personally, I had one of these laying around because I did a lot of time lapses when I was visiting Chicago last year but if you do not have one you can purchase it here for just a few bucks.
If you have a GoPro already you will definitely have this but if not you will need to purchase the clip mount that slides into the adhesive mount which holds the device holder and adhesive mount securly ==> here
I know this sounds like a lot and may be confusing but I assure you it is not and will be very simple once you see the final product pictured below!
I know the adhesive and clip mounts only come in multi packs but I’m sure you can apply these methods and find other uses for them in the future!
I hope you enjoyed this DIY project! If you interested in building a case for your drone check out my tutorial ==> here !
